Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa dies at 68 late on Monday evening following a cardiac arrest, her health was continuously deteriorating and her recovery was slow due to diabetes.

Earlier Apollo was denying report of Jayalalithaa’s death, on Monday late night the hospital made an official announcement of Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa’s death.

On Monday night, Tamil Nadu government announced a seven-day state mourning from Tuesday and school and will be shut for three days as a tribute to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

The National Flag on all government buildings will be flown at half-mast and there will be no official entertainment held during seven days of mourning duration, Chief Secretary P Rama Mohana Rao said in a notification.

Amma’s body had been taken to her Poes Garden residence from hospital, and has been kept at Rajaji Hall for people to pay last respect to everyone’s beloved Amma.

Cremation ceremony is going to take place at Marina beach, 4.30 pm today. Central Government has also declared one day of national mourning as a tribute to notable Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
