Uber Driver and 2 other arrested for robbing a Passenger in New Delhi

A passenger who was waiting for the auto-rickshaw at Okhla Phase-1 was allegedly robbed by Uber driver and 2 others at knifepoint.

Kaushal Kumar Sharma, who is an accountant at Jonapur informed the police about the incident after which the accused were arrested by the Delhi Police.

According to Kaushal, the whole incident took place when he was returning from the work around 8 pm and was waiting for the auto-rickshaw and suddenly the cab stopped in front of him where 3 people were already seated who offered him the ride after which Kaushal accepted the offer and sat with them in the car.

As they were on the way it was just about one kilometer they had traveled two people held Sharma at knifepoint and robbed his Mobile, Laptop, and cash and took him towards Malviya Nagar where they tried to withdraw more cash from his ATM.

After robbing him, the accused threatened the victim and dropped him at G-block Saket after which Kaushal went to the Police Station and lodged the complaint against the accused.

During the investigation, police came to know about the owner of the car Naveen Jha from Badarpur who confirmed that he had registered his car with Uber and hired a driver for it.

After the interrogation from the cab owner Naveen, police arrested the accused cab driver Rehan (23) from Okhla Mandi whereas, the other two were identified as Ranjan Singh (21) and Ravi Shankar Sharma (18) and was arrested from Jaitpur.
