In a shocking incident, a 100-year-old elderly woman was allegedly raped by a youth in Jaani village of Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh on Monday.
The incident was reported from Jaani village of Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh, where the woman was living with her brother.
It was reported that the woman was raped by a drunken man.
The accused was identified as Ankit Punia, who reportedly entered the house and attacked the victim. He tried to escape when her cries were heard by the brother and neighbors.
In a statement, victim’s grandson said, “She was very weak. She could only manage to utter feeble cries. We rushed to where she was and were horrified to find the man forcing himself on her”.
The accused was later handed over to the police officials.
Following this, the woman reportedly died, officials said.
PC Sharma, station officer at Jani police station said, “We immediately reached the spot and called an ambulance to transport the old woman to the district hospital. An FIR has been filed against Punia under IPC sections IPC 458 (house-breaking after preparation for assault) and 376 (rape). Besides, relevant sections of the SC/ST Act have also been slapped against the accused as the victim was a Dalit”.
A case has been registered under the sections of 458 (house-breaking after preparation for assault) and 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code.
