The Business tycoon Vijay Mallya, who fled to Britain has been arrested in London and will be presented in front of Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

Metropolitan Police spokesperson said in a statement, “Vijay Mallya has been arrested on an extradition warrant”.

Mallya, is on the list of wanting criminals in India for defaulting on loans approx Rs 9,000 crore, is now arrested by the Scotland Yard in London.

In a statement,  Santosh Gangwar, Minister of State for Finance told the Indian Media, “Vijay Mallya will be brought back to India, due process of law will be followed”.

It was reported that Liquor baron who fled to Britain last year in March 2016, refused to appear in front of the court after defaulting loan payments from the banks and misusing the funds.

After his arrest, Mallya criticizes the Indian media for making his arrest as breaking news for gaining the TRPs. He tweeted, “Usual Indian media hype. Extradition hearing in Court started today as expected,”
