In yet another frightening incident, a 45-year-old multimedia journalist from Delhi was attacked by an unidentified person in a park in northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area on Wednesday evening.
The 45-year-old Aparna Kalra suffered severe brain injuries after being attacked by the unidentified man in a public park where she used to go for a walk in Ashok Vihar near her residence.
According to police, Aparna Kalra, who has worked with top media houses, was admitted to Fortis hospital where she suffered severe brain injuries.
The event occurred when Aparna Kalra was out of her home for the routine evening walk in Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area.
It was the evening time on Wednesday around 6.15 pm, when Kalra left her home for her routine schedule for an evening walk in the Picnic Hut –a park, which is beside her home.
The day was normal as usual day till a call rang and changed the whole thing. At around 7.30 pm in the evening, Karla’s sister received a call from the police informing that Aparna was admitted to the Deep Chand Hospital with brain injuries. Meanwhile, Kalra’s family is unaware of the attacker.
Although, the robbery could not be the motive as she was not carrying any valuable things like her phone or any valuable thing at that point in time.
Statements from the officials
While giving a statement to the news agencies Rajesh Khurana, Joint Commissioner of Police (Northern Range) said, “She informed doctors during treatment that she was hit with a heavy object from behind. We are waiting to record her statement as her condition is still critical”.
Adding further to this he said, “It could be a personal matter. The woman has been writing on travel issues for some magazines and news portals. Over a hundred persons have been rounded up”.
However, a case of attempt to murder has been registered by the police.
