Yamuna Expressway: Smog leads to major accident, 18 vehicles piled up

In a shocking incident, at least ten vehicles reportedly collided on the Yamuna Expressway highway in the Greater Noida’s Dankaur area on Wednesday morning.

The incident took place in Gautam Buddha Nagar’s Dankaur area on Wednesday morning.

It was reported that the car reportedly crashed due to low visibility.

Dankaur station house officer (SHO) Farmud Ali, said in a statement, “At the time of the accident, there was dense fog and visibility was just 10 meters. The rescue team too had to drive with care”.

Officials said that  five vehicles were on their way to Agra and other eight vehicles  were heading towards Delhi where it collided  on the expressway.

Station officer GP Singh of Mahavan police jurisdiction said, “The trigger of the accident was a defunct car which was rammed from behind by a speeding truck. The truck was ferrying apple cartons and it turned turtle after the collision. Since it was densely foggy morning, over a dozen of cars and heavy trucks kept on piling up on each other in back to back collisions”.

The vehicles which were allegedly collided include Toyota Innova, Mahindra Scorpio, Maruti Ertiga, Hyundai Xcent.

Following the incident, the injured persons were  shifted to Kailash Hospital.
