Bollywood bids adieu to Sridevi

The police on Tuesday cleared the death cause and the superstar’s body was brought to Mumbai last night.

The Dubai Public Prosecution on Monday confirmed that Sridevi died of accidental drowning and not cardiac arrest. Later on Tuesday, the Counsel General of India confirmed that the police in Dubai has closed Sridevi’s case after a thorough investigation.

The superstar actor died on February 24 in a Dubai hotel. She was there to attend the marriage ceremony of her nephew. She was found dead in the hotel bathtub. The death came as a shock to her family, friends and colleagues.

The Bollywood superstar has worked in more than 300 movies. Her superhits work includes Chandni, Lamhe, Mr India, Sadma to name a few. Her recent work includes ‘English Vinglish’ released in 2012. It was her comeback in the film industry after 1997 when she left work to raise her two children.

In 2013, India awarded her Padma Shree- Country’s fourth highest civilian award.

On Tuesday, His step-son Arjun Kapoor and husband Boney Kapoor brought her mortal remains to Mumbai. Earlier today, her body was kept for 3 hours at the Celebration Sports Club in Andheri. Thousands of spectators and B-town celebrities gathered to pay tributes to the first ever female superstar in India.

Bollywood celebrities such as Hema Malini, Jackie Shroff, Chiranjeevi, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukherjee, Vidya Balan, Shahid Kapoor, etc. gathered at the celebration sports club auditorium. Wrapped up in Tricolor, she was given state honours.

The last rites will take place at Ville Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium and Hindu Cemetary situated on SV Road.
