Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor gets three-gun salute wrapped in tricolor

The matinee star Shashi Kapoor who passed away on December 4, was allegedly wrapped in the tricolor and given a three-gun salute by the Mumbai Police.

The actor took his last breathe at around 5.20 p.m. at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Monday.

The actor has hosted a salute ceremony in which he was given a three-gun salute by the Mumbai police and was wrapped in the tricolor for his last rites at the Santacruz Hindu Crematorium on Tuesday.

Many Bollywood celebrities like Salim Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Naseeruddin Shah, Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Supriya Pathak, Shakti Kapoor among others were present at the cremation.

The iconic star Shashi Kapoor was honored with Padma Bhushan which is considered as the third highest civilian honour by the Government of India in the year 2011.

Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor debuted in Bollywood with the 1961 film Dharmputra.

It was reported thousands of people were gathered outside the Santacruz Hindu Crematorium to pay respect to the legendary actor Shashi Kapoor

On the other hand Amitabh Bachchan moved to his blog and wrote, “I had visited him on occasion in Hospital during some of the times he had been hospitalized earlier .. but I never went to see him again .. I would never have .. I never ever wanted to see this beautiful friend and ‘samdhi’ in the state I saw him in hospital ..…. and I did not today, when they informed me that he had gone”.
