According to the reports, Airplane carrying 72 individuals on board including the players from a Brazilian football team Chapecoense who were making a beeline for Colombia for a tournament match has crashed on its way on Tuesday.
The plane has crashed while making the way to Medellin’s universal airplane terminal. According to the sources, the football team was supposed to play Copa Sudamerica finals against Atletico Nacional on Wednesday.
Medellin’s Mayor Federico Gutierrez, told the media, “On his way to the site in a mountainous area outside the city where the chartered aircraft is believed to have crashed shortly before midnight local time”.
He added that it is possible that there are survivors.
The Jose Maria Cordova de Rionegro airport, which serves Medellin, posted on its Twitter account: “Confirmed, the aircraft licence number CP2933 was carrying the team. Apparently there are survivors.”
