CSK beat RR by 64 runs

Shane Watson scored his third IPL century as Chennai Super Kings defeated Rajasthan Royals by five wickets at their new home ground at the MCA Stadium, Pune on Friday.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to field first. Batting first, CSK’s Shane Watson scored 106 runs off just 57 balls against his former club, his innings included 6 sixes and 9 fours. Suresh Raina scored 46 runs and later Dwayne Bravo too chipped in with 24 runs. As a result, CSK posted 204 runs on the scoreboard for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs.

Shreyas Gopal was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 4-0-20-3 while Ben Laughlin also picked two wickets.

In reply, Rajasthan Royals never seemed in control of the run chase, especially after losing top 3 in their powerplay overs. Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler brought some hopes in the middle overs but got out for 45 and 22 respectively.

Rahul Tripathi and Sanju Samson disappointed in the batting line up as they failed to make a mark. As a result, the entire team got bowled out for 140 runs in 18.3 overs. Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Dwayne Bravo and Karn Sharma shared two wickets each.

Shane Watson was declared Man of the Match. He also picked up one wicket.


Two centuries in Two days

 The first 12 days of IPL saw no centuries and then two centuries were scored in two days. Yesterday, Shane Watson scored his century and On Thursday, Chris Gayle had scored his unbeaten ton.


Today’s games

In Today’s matches, Kolkata Knight Riders will play Kings XI Punjab at Eden Gardens while Royal Challengers Bangalore will take against Delhi Daredevils at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
