CSK defeats Delhi Daredevils, moves top of the table

Shane Watson, Rayudu, and Dhoni played blazing innings as Chennai Super Kings defeated Delhi Daredevils by 13 runs at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Monday.

Delhi Daredevils won the toss and opted to bowl. Batting first, Chennai started off very well after a clear decision of Watson’s was not reviewed. He went on to score 78 runs off 40 balls that included seven sixes and four fours. The opening pair of Watson and Faf du Plessis added 102 runs for the first wicket. Raina got bowled out for just 1 run off Glenn Maxwell.

Rayudu 41(24) and MS Dhoni 51*(22) then took over and finished off the innings in style. Dhoni hit 5 sixes and 2 fours in his innings as CSK managed 211 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs.

In reply, DD did not start well as they lost the inform batsman Prithvi Shaw in the second over. Shreyas Iyer got run out for just 13 runs. Rishabh Pant scored 79 runs off 45 balls that included 4 sixes and seven fours. Vijay Shankar scored 54 runs off 31 deliveries and built some momentum but the team fell 13 runs short of the target. DD scored 198 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs.

In today’s game, RCB will play MI at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers so far have put the team’s performance down while Mumbai Indians will be full of confidence as they defeated CSK by 8 wickets away from home in the last game. Both the teams have 2 wins in 7 games.
