Delhi Daredevils defeats Chennai Super Kings by 34 runs

Delhi Daredevils who are placed at the bottom of the points table in the Indian Premier League defeated Chennai Super Kings by 34 runs.

CSK won the toss and opted to field owing to the slowness of the pitch as the game progress. Batting first, DD managed 162 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs.

Risabh Pant scored 38 runs, Vijay Shankar and Harshal Patel scored 36 runs each. They scored a majority of runs towards the end of the innings with 26 runs coming from the last over bowled by Dwayne Bravo.

Lungi Ngidi picked two wickets for just 14 runs in three overs.

In reply, CSK could only manage 128 runs in their 20 overs. Orange cap holder, Ambati Rayudu scored 50 runs off 29 balls but then MS Dhoni couldn’t provide the finishing touches later in the innings. He scored 17 runs from 23 deliveries as CSK fell 34 runs short of the target. Trent Boult and Amit Mishra scalped two wickets each.

Harshal Patel was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-around performance.

CSK has already qualified for the playoffs. A win could have boosted their morale ahead of their encounter with KXIP who has once defeated them in the tournament.


The entire focus will be on double-header games today,

Royal Challengers Bangalore will play Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur and both the teams need a win to qualify for the playoffs.

In the second match, Kolkata Knight Riders will take against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. A win for KKR will secure them a place in the playoff.
