Indian Junior hockey team lifted the World Cup title after 15 years

Once again Indian Junior hockey team has made the country proud after beating Belgium 2-1 in the final round in Lucknow’s Major Dhyan Chand Hockey stadium on Sunday.

According to the reports, India had won the title after the long period of 15 years in the year 2001. Gurjant Singh in the 8th minute and Simranjeet Singh in the 22nd minute were the players who scored the goal against the rival team.

India’s road to the final was not as easy as it appeared with the strongest team of Canada and England on its way.

As per the sources, after Germany the team India was the only team who won the title of Junior Hockey World Cup. In the year 1997, India failed to win the title and end up getting the runner-up title in the final round against the Australian team.

When the final round was in its end, just 15 seconds before Belgium team rewarded by the penalty in their counter.
