IPL: CSK and RR register last overs wins

The super Sunday saw two last over finishes in the ongoing Indian Premier League as Chennai Super Kings defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad while Rajasthan Royals triumphed over Mumbai Indians.

The first game took place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium where SRH won the toss and sent CSK to bat first.

CSK scored 182 runs in their 20 overs after recovering from a slow start. Ambati Rayudu scored a quick fire 79 runs off 37 runs. He was on course to score his maiden IPL ton before getting run-out in the 17th over.  Suresh Raina too completed his half-century.

In reply, SRH in the absence of Shikhar Shawan (injured) did not look in-control and had lost 3 wickets for just 22 runs. Later Kane Williamson (84) and Yusuf Pathan (45) controlled the game in the middle overs but couldn’t register a win. Deepak Chahar ended with figures of 4-1-15-3.

The game went tight in the last two overs when Rashid Khan started hitting sixes but was just one shot away as CSK registered snatched a 4 runs win to get to the top of the table with four wins in five games.

The latter game took place between Rajasthan Royals and MI where the hosts won the toss and chose to bat first, MI scored 167 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. It included half-centuries from opener Surya Kumar Yadav (72) and wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan.  Jofra Archer picked three wickets and Dhawal Kulkarni managed two wickets.

In reply, Rajasthan Royals won the game in the last over by the heroics of Krishnappa Gowtham who scored 33 runs of just 11 balls as RR won the game by three wickets. Sanju Samson (52) and Ben Stokes (40) ) led the run- chase. Bumrah and Pandya scalped two wickets each.
