Rajasthan Royals won their first game in this edition of the Indian Premier League by defeating Delhi Daredevils in the rain-shortened game.
Royals returned to their home ground at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday and registered a win in their second game of this season by 10 runs (D/L method).
Earlier DD had won the toss and sent Royals to bat.
Royals had started 153 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 17.5 overs before rain halted the game for a while. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane scored 45 runs while Sanju Samson 37(22) and Jos Buttler 29(18) paced up the run-rate.
The Duck-Worth Lewis method meant that DD had to score 70 runs off 6 overs but they did not manage to do as RR bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals and they were left for 60-4.
CSK matches shifted
The Cauvery turmoil forced the Board of Control for Cricket in India to shift their games from Chennai to Pune, a place where Dhoni lost his captaincy in IPL last year.
Massive protests ahead of the match with protestors hurling shoes at players inside the stadium led to the shift. Travel was also kept on notice.
The BCCI had shortlisted four different venues earlier but settled for Pune as the skipper MSD is familiar with the conditions.
“The matches had to be shifted out of Chennai as police had said that they were unable to provide security in the prevailing situation. CSK is not averse to shifting base to Pune,” IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said.
He had also spoken to the Union Home Secretary on Tuesday seeking government intervention in smooth conduct of IPL matches in Chennai.
