Shikhar Dhawan continued his prime form after the recently concluded Nidahas Trophy as he scored an unbeaten 77 runs to help his side Sunrisers Hyderabad win their opening game against Rajasthan Royals.

Shikhar Dhawan scored unbeaten 77 runs off just 57 balls that included 13 fours and a six while the skipper Kane Williamson also chipped in with 36 runs to help his team register their first win in the IPL-11.

Earlier, Williamson won the toss at their home ground and sent Rajasthan Royals to bat who were making their IPL comeback after two years and was without Steve Smith (ruled out of Indian Premier League following ball tampering incident in South Africa).

The batting performance wasn’t good as there was no partnership going apart from Sanju Samson who scored 49 but he too threw away his wicket by getting caught to Rashid Khan. Players like D Arcy Short, Ben Stokes, and Jos Buttler also disappointed.

As a result, RR could only manage 125 runs with the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Shakib-Al Hasan and Siddharth Kaul picked two wickets each.

In today’s Match, Chennai Super Kings will play against Kolkata Knight Riders at Chepauk at 20:00 IST. Both the teams have won their opening games.

Pat Cummins ruled out of IPL

Mumbai Indians earned a heavy blow as Australia’s fast bowler Pat Cummins has been ruled out of IPL due to a back injury. MI bought him for Rs 5.4 crore.

Cricket Australia confirmed that Cummins has ‘bone edema in his vertebrae’ which is basically swelling in the joint. Mumbai Indians are the defending champions and Cummins departure will hurt them this season.
