IPL: Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Kings XI Punjab by 13 runs

Sunrisers Hyderabad defended another low total as they defeated Kings XI Punjab by 13 runs in their home ground on Thursday.

Kings XI Punjab won the toss and opted to bowl first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. They restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to a low total of 132 runs for six wickets. For SRH, Manish Pandey scored his half-centuries while Shakib Al Hasan and Yusuf Pathan scored 28 and 21* respectively.

Ankit Rajpoot took a five-wicket haul. He was adjudged Man of the Match.

In reply, Kings XI Punjab started off well as the opening pair scored 55 runs but then wickets continued to fall at regular intervals as their batting collapsed. They got bowled out for 119 runs in 19.2 overs. Lokesh Rahul scored 32 runs and Chris Gayle contributed 23 runs. Rashid Khan scalped three wickets while Shakib Al Hasan, Basil Thampi, and Sandeep Sharma scalped two wickets each.

The win takes SRH to second place in the premier league’s points table with 5 wins in first seven games.

Earlier, SRH had defended 118 runs at Wankhede Stadium against Mumbai on Tuesday.

 

In today’s match, Delhi Daredevils will play Kolkata Knight Riders at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. DD will look forward to coming back to winning ways under their new captain, Shreyas Iyer. The team’s performance is highly affected this season and they are at the bottom of the league table.
