Lokesh Rahul played an unbeaten inning of 84 to help Kings XI Punjab defeated Rajasthan Royals by six wickets at the Holkar Stadium on Sunday.
Lokesh Rahul scored unbeaten 84 off just 54 deliveries that included 7 fours and 3 sixes. He made the target of 153 look very easy and chased it with more than an over to spare. Karun Nair chipped in with his 31 runs while Marcus Stoinis scored 23.
L Rahul was awarded Man of the Match.
Earlier KXIP won the toss and sent in Rajasthan Royals to bat. Batting first, they scored 152 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Jos Buttler scored 51 while Sanju Samson and Shreyas Goyal’s 20s guided them to a respectable total. Mujeeb Ur Rahman picked three wickets.
The loss means that RR now needs to win all their upcoming five matches to qualify for the semi-finals.
In an earlier game, Mumbai Indians defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 13 runs at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai to keep their chances of qualifying in the top 4 alive. After being sent in to bat first, MI scored 181 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav continued his splendid form and hit another half-century. He scored 59 runs off just 39 balls with the help of 2 sixes and seven fours. Evin Lewis too played well for his 43 (28). Hardik Pandya scored a cameo of 35 runs off 20 balls.
Sunil Narine & Andre Russell scalped two wickets each.
In reply, KKR fell 13 runs short of the target. Despite a bad start, Robin Uthappa (54), Nitish Rana (31) and Dinesh Karthik (36*) took the game deep but left it too late to win.
H Pandya took 2 wickets. He was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-around performance.
