Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Rajasthan Royals by 6 wickets at the Eden Gardens stadium, Kolkata on Tuesday.
KKR won the toss and opted to field first. Batting first, Rajasthan Royals despite having a good start in the powerplay overs lost their momentum once both their openers Jos Buttler (39) and Rahul Tripathi (27) got out. As a result, the entire team got bowled out for just 142 runs in 19 overs. Unadkat later chipped in with his 26 runs.
Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-0-20-4. Prasidh Krishna and Andre Rusell scalped two wickets each.
In reply, KKR had a solid start as Sunil Narine scored 21 runs off the first balls off K Gowtham. After he got out, RR picked the wicket of Robin Uthappa to get an edge into the game but then Chris Lynn (45) and Nitish Rana (21) played their part.
Later, Dinesh Karthik (41*) and Andre Russell (11*) finished off the innings as KKR registered a win against RR in the must-win game. Ben Stokes picked three wickets.
Kuldeep Yadav was declared Man of the Match.
KKR will play their next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday. A win will secure them a place in the final.
RR has an outside chance to get into the playoffs* if they win against RCB on the same day as above.
In today’s match, Mumbai Indians will play Kings XI Punjab at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Kings XI Punjab needs to win the game if they have to be in the race to the playoffs. Mumbai has defeated them by six wickets in their previous game.
