The world champion M C Mary Kom has reportedly won the semi-final match of Asian Boxing Championship today.
The five times world champion has allegedly defeated Japan’s Tsubasa Komura in 5-0 verdict to win the final for the fifth time.
After winning the final, Mary Kom said in a statement, “I have been fighting for my country for many years and each time when I start well, that is a good sign. It motivates the others to perform well too. I would like to thank the President of Boxing Federation of India (BFI), Ajay Singh, for his support. It wouldn’t have been possible without him”.
The 35-year-old is also a Rajya Sabha MP. She is a former Olympic bronze medallist.
It was learned that Mary Kom was allegedly competing in the 51 kg category for the past five years.
The Indian star boxer has won four gold and a silver in her previous event.
