Hitman Rohit Sharma scored 94 runs to help his team register 46 runs win over Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Tuesday.
It was Mumbai Indians’ first win of the tournament.
RCB won the toss and sent MI to bat first. After losing two wickets off successive balls from Umesh Yadav without scoring a run, the skipper arrived at the crease.
Rohit who almost played as an opener bludgeoned the opposition RCB by scoring 94 balls off just 52 balls that included 10 fours and 5 sixes while Evin Lewis scored 65 runs off 42 balls.
MI scored a total of 213 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. Umesh Yadav and Corey Anderson picked two wickets each.
In reply, skipper Virat Kohli opened RCB’s innings alongside Quinton de Cock. He scored unbeaten 92 runs off just 62 deliveries that included 7 fours and 4 sixes but players on the other end didn’t support him much.
MI kept picking wickets in the middle despite Virat Kohli’s effort. Krunal Pandya took 3 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell McClenaghan scalped two wickets each. As a result, RCB fell short by 46 runs.
RCB is so far winless in away games.
In today’s match, Rajasthan Royals will play against Kolkata Knight Riders at their home ground at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Fans will be hoping for a complete match as the previous game played (against DD) at the venue was shortened due to rain while the confidence must be high on both sides as they both have won their previous games.
