India’s dream to chase the winning twin titles in the Hong Kong Open Super Series final was all gone in vain as India’s Olympics silver medalist PV Sindhu and national champion Sameer Verma lost to survive in the race in Hong Kong open super series final on Sunday.
Sindhu, who played second Super Series title, has lost 15-21, 17-21 from Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying in a 41-minute women’s singles.
According to reports, Sindhu didn’t start the match well as the fourth seed Tzu Ying hustled to a mid 6-3 lead.
The Hyderabadi player hit back to be in the race and level the game at 6-6. India’s silver medalist led the battle at 8-7.
On the other hand, Sameer Verma who had lost the match against NG Ka Long Angus 14-21, 21-10, 11-21 in 50 minutes.
National champion Sameer Verma who participated in the men’s singles summit against NG Ka Long Angus had failed to prove himself but all hopes gone in vain and he lost the match by 2-0 on the record.
