Rajasthan Royals defeats Kings XI Punjab by 15 runs, keeps semi-final hopes alive

Rajasthan Royals defeated Kings XI Punjab at their fortress (Sawai Mansingh stadium, Jaipur) by 15 runs as they keep their title chances alive with 4 wins in 10 games.

RR won the toss the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 158 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Jos Buttler scored 82 runs off just 58 balls that included 1 six and nine fours. He was adjudged Man of the Match.

Sanju Samson contributed 22. Andrew Tye was the pick of the bowlers picking up 4 wickets for 34 runs in his quota of four overs.

In reply, Kings XI Punjab could only manage 143 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Lokesh Rahul scored an unbeaten 95 runs in just 70 balls with the help of two sixes and 11 fours but his heroics didn’t work out. Batsmen on the other end kept getting out at regular succession as KXIP fell 15 runs short of the target. They could only manage 143 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. K Gowtham scalped two wickets.

RR needs to win all their remaining games to qualify for the semi-final. They will play their next game against CSK on Friday while KXIP will play KKR on Saturday.

 

In today’s match, Kolkata Knight Riders will play Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens. A win for MI is a must while KKR will look forward to taking revenge against the same team as they lost against MI by 13 runs at Wankhede stadium, Mumbai.

KKR and MI are placed 4th & 5th in the Points Table respectively.
