West Indies’s Andre Russell banned for one year over doping-code violation

West Indies All-rounder player Andre Russell has been banned for one year from cricket over doping whereabouts rule violation by an independent anti-doping board in Kingston.

The ban has been effective from January 31 2017 and will last till January 30 2018.

The 28-year-old, Russell has been one of the most prominent player of West Indies and he also helped his team to win their second World T20 match.

Russell did not filed his whereabouts on three occasions in 2015 as required, which is against World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) guidelines.

According to WADA guidelines, athletes across all sports must notify their local anti-doping agencies, details of where they will be for at least one hour each day to facilitate drug tests.
