The government has set High-Level Forum on Tuesday in the process of research and development to roll out the 5G network in India by 2020.
It was reported that the government has included ministries of telecom, science and technology, information, and technology in the forum and set Rs 500 crore funds for the research and development procedure in 5G.
Manoj Sinha, Minister of State for Communications said in a statement, “We missed the opportunity to participate when the standards were being set for 3G and 4G, but don’t want to miss the 5G opportunity. Now when the standards are being set for 5G across the world, India will also participate in the process”.
Adding further to this he said, “Other countries are adopting 5G networks we cannot be left behind in the race. India will too launch 5G by 2020”.
“As per the OECD Committee on Digital Economic Policy, it has been stated that 5G technologies rollout will help in increasing GDP, creating employment, and digitising the economy”, Sinha said.
Manoj Sinha said, “We are open to collaboration with them”.
The centre will spend the fund of Rs 500 crore for research and development in 5G and approve roadmaps to bring the latest technology in India by 2020.
