At the fifth edition of the Global Conference on Cyberspace event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches all-new app called Umang to boost e-governance through mobile devices.
It was reported that the app was scheduled to be launched in December 2016, but was delayed for a year due to beta test on the app.
Officials told the media, the app will be operated in 122 languages including English.
While addressing the audience at GCCS, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Today, we launched the Umang Mobile App, which will provide over a hundred citizen-centric services. At the back-end, these services will be catered for by many different departments of the Union and State Governments. This integrated approach will add an automatic layer of ‘peer performance pressure’, in the working of these departments”.
It was discovered that the app is set to provide the government services which include national scholarships, health-care applications, women’s safety, e-District and Passport Seva.
Officials said that the app is designed in a way that it will take minimum space in phone’s space.
The lately launched Umang App brings 162 government services on a single mobile app and provides more than 1200 services of various government services from Centre.
