Yahoo reveals that 1 billion accounts hacked in 2013

On Wednesday, Yahoo reveals that it had spotted another major cyber attack, saying that over one billion accounts have been hacked in 2013.

This affected more than 1 billion users, including US government and military employees.

Yahoo said hackers have stolen personal data including their names, dates of birth, email ids, phone numbers, encrypted or unencrypted security questions and answers and many more.

Company also said debit and credit card details and bank account information were not stored in the system and believed to be unaffected.

In 2014 also yahoo witnessed this cyber attack in which hackers threatened over 500 million amounts.

Company said in a statement “Yahoo has taken steps to secure user accounts and is working closely with law enforcement”.

Yahoo has started informing affected users, it has also nullified forged cookies. An investigation is still going on and conclusion may be different as the company found new information related to this case.
