Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani’s daughter Isha is all set to tie a knot with billionaire Ajay Piramal and wife Swati Piramal’s son Anand in December this year.
The couple plans to marry in India, said a statement. As of now, no specific date has been declared.
Isha, twin sister of Akash Ambani is on the boards of Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail. The announcement comes days after Ambani’s threw a bash for their son Akash and his fiance Shloka Mehta, daughter of Russell Mehta owner one of India’s largest diamond companies, Rosy Blue.
Anand Piramal and Isha Ambani have been longtime friends and both their families share a strong bond of friendship for over four decades.
Anand proposed Isha at a Mahabaleshwar temple and the couple celebrated the occasion with a lunch with close family members, including siblings and grandparents, said a statement issued on their behalf.
Isha, 26 is a graduate from Yale University. She will be completing her MBA from Graduate School of Business, Stanford by June.
33-year-old Anand Piramal is executive director of the Piramal Group and is the founder of its real estate business- Piramal Realty. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
The Ambanis and Piramals sit atop diversified business interests from oil and telecom, to healthcare and financial services. The Piramal Group is also considered among the more cash-rich in India Inc, especially following its sale of Abbott Laboratories for $3.72 billion.
