At least four Rohingya were reportedly killed after a boat capsized off the Bangladesh coast on Tuesday.
The boat was carrying 33 migrants from Myanmar where the boat reportedly sinks off the coast of Bangladesh, Police said.
The incident took place on Tuesday morning where the boat reportedly sinks near Inani beach in Cox’s Bazar district.
Mohammed Mikaruzzaman, a Local government administrator said in a statement, “23 people have been rescued from the spot”.
Following the incident, one body was recovered from the sea.
Police chief Abul Khair told the media, “There were at least 33 people in the small trawler, which capsized after it was caught in high waves and bad weather”.
It was reported that one person was reportedly found dead and other six others were immediately rushed to the local hospital in a critical condition, where they later died.
Adding further to this he said, “The rest were dragged ashore or managed to swim to safety”.
The United Nations said at around 6,05,000 Rohingya has reportedly arrived in Bangladesh since August.
It was learned that at around 200 Rohingya drowned since August 29 while the boat reportedly capsizes trying to flee from Myanmar.
