Hurricane Ophelia kills 3 in Ireland

Three persons were reportedly killed high winds and heavy rains following Storm Ophelia strike the Republic of Ireland

Met Eireann, the Irish National Meteorological Service said in a statement, “It will still, however, bring violent and destructive winds for a time”.

Following the incident, government offices were remained shut.

The national weather service said, “This leads to the potential for injuries and danger to life”.

It was reported that 170 flights from Ireland were canceled at Dublin and Shannon airport.

Flights and ferries were reported canceled in some parts of Scotland.

Following this, Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said, “Stay indoors wherever you are until the storm has passed”.

The government of Ireland said schools and colleges would remain closed.

It was further added, “I don’t want anyone to think that this is anything other than a national emergency and a red alert”.

Following the mishap, the recovery operation is currently underway.
