New York: Australian diplomat dies after building fall

An Australian diplomat has allegedly died after falling from the seventh floor of New York building.

The deceased was identified as Julian Simpson, 30, a Second Secretary at UN.

Julian Simpson allegedly died in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

A spokesperson said in a statement, “The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian diplomat who died in New York”.

It was reported that Simpson was playing trust game on the rooftop when the incident took place.

It was further added, “The family has requested privacy at this time”.

Following the incident, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull quoted the Simpson’s death as a shocking tragedy.

It was learned that Simpson was residing in the US for last two years.

However, the investigation is still in process, police officials said.
