Notre-Dame cathedral attack

Outside Notre Dame in Paris, cops shoot the attacker who shouted ‘this is for Syria’ and attacked a police officer with Hammer. The officer suffered minor injuries.

At least 600 people were obstructed inside the iconic 12th century church, while others fled in frenzy from the sprawling esplanade outside as cops brushed the area in the center of the French capital.

The strike was the most recent demonstration of violence targeting security forces at prominent locales in France, which stays under a state of emergency after a string of Islamic extremist assaults.

“Situation under control, one cop injured, the assailant was killed and taken to hospital,” Paris police said on Twitter.

Both France and Britain have suffered a spate of militant attacks in recent months. France is under a state of emergency since militant attacks in 2015 that have killed more than 230 lives.
