Rocker Tom Petty dies at 66

Veteran rocker Tom Petty allegedly died at the age of 66 after suffering from cardiac arrest on Monday.

Tom Petty’s Manager Tony Dimitriades said in a statement, “We are devastated to announce the untimely death of our father, husband, brother, leader, and friend Tom Petty”.

He lived with his family in Los Angeles.

It was reported that the veteran rocker was rushed to the hospital and put on life-support after he got unconscious and suffered from cardiac arrest at his Malibu, Calif residence on Sunday.

Reports says that he died peacefully at around 8:40 pm surrounded by family, his bandmates, and friends.

Family said in a statement, “On behalf of the Tom Petty family we are devastated to announce the untimely death of our father, husband, brother, leader, and friend Tom Petty,”

The statement released reads, “He was taken to a Los Angeles hospital but could not be revived and at 8:40 pm (0340 GMT) “died peacefully… surrounded by family, his bandmates, and friends”.

His hit songs include “Don’t Come Around Here No More”, “Free Fallin”, “American Girl” among others.
