Somalia attack: Explosion kills seven in Mogadishu

At least seven people were allegedly killed and several others were reported injured after a bomb blast took place near a marketplace in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Friday morning.

The explosion took place in a populated road near Hamarweyne market in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu today.

The bomb blast reportedly took place inside a car which was parked outside a restaurant in Mogadishu’s Hamarweyne district.

City administration spokesman Abdifatah Omar Halane said in a statement, “The blast was caused by a luxurious car loaded with explosives, which was detonated at a civilian, densely-populated area, and seven people were killed and several others wounded”.

Officials claim that the death toll is expected to rise.

It was reported that the bomb blast occurred outside London Gate restaurant, near one of the crowded garden in the city, Official said.

Major Nur Hussein, a police officer said in a statement, “I have counted seven dead bodies of civilians”.

It was discovered that it was the third car bomb blast which took place in Somalia in last three weeks.

Although, the reason of the blast was not clear.

However, the attack responsibility has not been taken by any group till yet. Meanwhile, it was learned that al-Shabab usually carries out such attacks.
