UK Elections: Britain gets first Sikh woman Preet Kaur Gill as MP

Indian origin Preet Kaur Gill becomes the first female Sikh MP from Labour Party after UK General Elections were announced on Friday.

While sharing her views to media, Gill said, “I am delighted I have been given the opportunity to become the next MP for Edgbaston where I was born and raised”.

I want to engage with the people of Edgbaston and with hard work, passion and determination I think we can achieve great things together,” she said.

Preet Kaur Gill is a councillor from Sandwell, who will now be the first Sikh woman in the UK House of Commons.

Gill is born and bought up in Edgbaston, will focus on the issues related to the Sikh community.
