Chennai Witnessing massive protest in support of traditional sport Jallikattu

Thousands of people across the city, gathered at Marina Beach in Chennai to support Tamil Nadu’s traditional sport Jallikattu.

This comes after the Supreme Court decision over the ban on the bull-taming sport.

People were protesting against animal welfare group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), after it issued a statement in which it said the purpose of this festival is to thank the nature which cannot be achieved by tormenting bulls and causing injuries and deaths to people and bulls.

On Tuesday, people began assembling at Marina Beach and continued their protest overnight to save their traditional sport following the arrest of Jallikattu protestors in Alanganallur in Madurai district.

Number of students bunked their college to participate in the protest. Various film actors like Suriya, G.V Prakash, Vijay and many more also joined the supporters.
