Former Union Minister and Congress leader P. Shiv Shankar died on Monday at the age of 89 due to prolonged illness.
P. Shiv Shankar was also the former Governor of Sikkim and Kerala who lived with his wife, a daughter and a son.
Shiv Shankar was considered a powerful leader in the tenure of Rajiv Gandhi.
In his entire political span which lasts over four decades, he served the country as an External Affairs and Human Resource Development Minister.
In the year 1994, he became the Governor of Sikkim and later in 1988 he won the election Tenali Parliamentary constituency under congress supervision.
Shankar’s last rites will be performed at the Puranapul crematorium on Tuesday morning.
