A district panchayat in Rajasthan’s Dholpur district has forbidden girls to wear jeans or keep mobile phones.
Following this, women’s rights activist Pramila Nesargi took a stand against the order and condemns the decision of the of a Panchayat over banning girls from wearing jeans and using mobile phones.
According to the Panchayat, wearing jeans and using mobile phones by girls gives a negative impact as it is a western thing, said Nesargi.
Pramila Nesargi, woman activist said in a statement to the media, “Mobile is for the use of communication. Everyone must remain updated and must know what is going on in the country. Every human being has the right to know and it’s a fundamental right. The Panchayat members are using the mobile phones but they do not want women to use this technology”.
