The central bank of India is going to issue new Rs.5 and Rs. 10 coins in circulation.
According to RBI official statement “the center has minted new Rs 5 coins to honor “150th anniversary of Allahabad High Court”. While Rs 10 coins on the eve of “One Hundred Twenty-fifth Year of National Archives of India”.
When it comes to design of new coins, the statement asserted Rs. 10 coins, will bear an image of the National Archives Building in the center on reverse side with inscription ‘125 YEARS’ below the image.
It further stated “The year “1891” and “2016” in English shall be written on the upper and lower border of the coin respectively. The year “1916” and “2016” in international numerals shall be written respectively on left and right top of the image.
There will be a logo of 125th anniversary celebration.
Whereas, Rs. 5 coins will bear image portraying center facade of Allahabad High Court Building emerging from the book on the front side.
The Reserve Bank said that the existing Rs 5 and Rs 10 coins are also valid even after the issue of new coins.
