The governing body CBSE has finally responded over the proposal to reintroduce and make board exams for class X compulsory from the academic year 2017-18.
Apart from the students who are studying English and Hindi, now they have to study additional Indian Language.
The sources said that, the decision came into the light of the CBSE governing body meeting which took place in New Delhi. Adding further to this, he said, the first exam is going to be conducted in the academic year 2018.
The Weightage of written exam will be 80% whereas the internal assessment weightage will go at 20%.
From now on, the schools which are affiliated from CBSE will have to follow a three-language formula in which other than Hindi, English language a new language has made mandatory for the students to learn as listed in Schedule VIII of the Constitution.
However, schools are not happy with this decision.
What is three language formula?
The three language formula is currently followed in the schools till Class 8th, but after the decision came in the governing body meeting by CBSE, that from now onward students who are learning Hindi or English will now have to study both the languages with the additional Indian language.
What about the board exams?
However, till now it is not made clear that the exam for the third language will be conducted or not.
Is the decision final?
The decisions which pop-out after the long hours of meeting with the governing body of CBSE is not made official by the government. The final verdict is to be finalized by the HRD minister before it is implemented.
