Following unrest in the Kashmir Valley, Social media, including Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, snapshot and others banned for a month.

The government has directed internet Service Providers (ISPs) to stop transmission of these social networking sites with immediate effect till further orders.

The ban has been put after mufti government said social media services were “being misused by anti-national and anti-social elements”.

For very first time government has took such a bold step to curb the turbulence the state, although its nothing new for Kashmiris as they regularly witness congestion in mobile internet signal.

The ban has comes a week after the state government deferred the 3G and 4G internet services because security agencies felt that social media, especially WhatsApp groups were being used to create tension and incite people for stone pelting.
