Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa suffers a cardiac arrest

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was reportedly rushed to the hospital after she suffered cardiac arrest on late Sunday evening. She has been put on heart assist device.

In a late evening, Apollo hospital issued a press release in which hospital’s COO Subbiah Viswanathan said, “Chief Minister suffered a cardiac arrest this evening. She is being treated and monitored by a team of experts including cardiologists, pulmonologists, and critical care specialists.”

The 68-year-old AIADMK leader was admitted to the Apollo Hospital earlier this year on September 22, after which she complained that she is suffering from fever, dehydration and congestion.

The schools in Tamil Nadu has not given a specific reason and settled on an autonomous choice and announced it as a holiday.

After that hospital tweeted, “She was put on extracorporeal membrane heart assist device (a heart pump) and is being treated by a team of expert doctors and critical care specialists”.

Political leaders among others have also expressed concern about her health.
