Uttar Pradesh: ISI agent arrested by ATS team in Faizabad

In a major breakthrough,   Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in a joint operation with Mumbai Police have arrested Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agent from Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday night.

The incident took place after intelligence inputs have warned of a terror attack could take place in the state by ISI terrorists.

It was reported that after tracking his cell phone, reports were made about his activities for ISI, was arrested by officials on Wednesday.

In a statement released by ATS team stated, “He was in constant touch with Pakistan High Commission”.

It was learned, UP Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Military Intelligence and UP Intelligence conducted a joint operation in which Aftab Ali was arrested by the officials from his home in Uttar Pradesh’s  Faizabad.

UP Police said in a statement, “The group, allegedly trained by Pakistan’s ISI, has reportedly been asked to target Ayodhya (in Faizabad district), Varanasi, Vrindavan, and the Taj Mahal in Agra”.

However, the security level has been made stricter at several places which include- Kashi, Mathura, Ayodhya, bus and railway stations, airports.
