We all know oats are very healthy, contains lot of proteins, high nutritive value, rich source of magnesium and fiber. Oats prevents cardiovascular disease and constipation. It also helps in controlling sugar level and reduces weight. Oats is a complete package of healthy diet which contain a lot of benefits.

There are lot of different varieties and flavors of oats easily available but sometimes we all want to cook some easy lip smacking homemade recipes, so why not you should try these steps.

Oats Chilla

Ingredients

– 2 cups of regular cooking oats
– 1 Cup of gram flour
– Sliced onions, capsicum, tomatoes and coriander
– Oil
– Curd or buttermilk
– Salt
– Finely chopped green chilies
– Warm water
– Turmeric
– Cumin seeds

How to cook
In a bowl, add oats and gram flour then mixed it with curd or buttermilk, water, salt and keep it aside for 5-6 minutes to soak up. After this add vegetables, coriander, turmeric, cumin seeds and crushed chilies and make a paste the consistency of a thick batter. Heat a non-stick pan on a stove and brush the pan with a little oil. Ladle the batter on the pan and spread it in circles. To make it crispier you also add butter or ghee it’s all upto you. Roast the pancake till it is nicely cooked and golden and then turn it to the other side. Once the pancake is cooked on both sides, take it off the pan and enjoy it with some ketchup or chutney.

You can even add other vegetables to the chilla/pancake but it will make your chilla thicker. Also, use slightly soured buttermilk or curd for better taste. You can also add ajwain seeds if you like the slightly strong taste they give.

Oats Upma

Ingredients

– 2 cups of regular cooking oats
– Turmeric
– Salt according to the taste
– Chopped chillies
– Chopped onions, carrots, green peas, finely chopped red and green bell peppers
– Curry Leaves
– Oil
– Mustard Seeds
– Lemon
– Coriander

How to cook
Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a pan, add oats, Roast for 4-5 minutes till the oats turn golden brown. After this in another pan, heat 1 teaspoon of oil and add some mustard seeds. Let mustard seed crackle then add curry leaves , onions , chopped chillies, salt , turmeric and sauté it till onion turn golden brown. Add chopped vegetables (carrot,green peas, red and green bell peppers) and cook for around 6-7 minutes till vegetables are cooked properly. Now add roasted oats and add some water to the oats, cover them and let them cook for 5-7 minutes or till they turn soft. Garnish it with fresh coriander leaves and lemon. Enjoy this with ketch up or mint chutney.

Oats Poha Chidva

Ingredients
– 2 cups of regular cooking oats
– Turmeric
– Chidva
– Pea Nuts
– Curry Leaves
– Oil
– Cumin seeds
– Onion
– Navrattan or any mixture namkeen
– Salt according to the taste

How to cook
In a pan add oats and chidva , Roast for 4-5 minutes till the oats and chivda turn golden brown. Keep this aside for a while. Take another pan, add 2 tablespoons oil and when it starts heating then add some cumin seeds, let cumin seeds crackle then add curry leaves , onions and cook until it turns crispy brown. Add salt and peanuts too in the roasted oats and chidva. Let it settle for a while and after 2-3 minutes serve it by garnishing mixture namkeen over it. Enjoy this with a cup of tea.

Oats Cookies

Ingredients
– 3 Cups oats
– 1 Cup finely powdered oats
– 2 Cups of butter
– Cinnamon powder
– 1 tsp salt
– Vanilla extract
– 1/5 cup Grated coconut
– 1/5 Cups of Milkmaid

How to cook
In a bowl, whisk together butter, brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon powder, vanilla extract, grated coconut and then add milkmaid and again whisk for a while. Then mix both the flour, baking soda, salt and finally add the oats. Once the mixture is perfectly whisked and ready, with the help of a spoon place them on a greased baking tray. Keep least a 2-inch gap between each cookie. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 170 degree C for 8-10 minutes. Serve with it with a cup of coffee or any of your favorite beverage.
