Australian Authorities assured for probe in racial abuse on Indian taxi driver

State police of Tasmania, Australia claimed that they have started examine the incident of racial abuse and assault against Indian origin taxi driver which took place on Sunday morning.

In a statement, the Australian police said they have enquired about the incident from a number of witnesses and launched a search operation for the crooks.

It is asserted that “The complainant will be kept informed of the status of the investigation as it progresses.”

The statement also assured that Tasmania Police take all assaults seriously, and whether the assault was racially based will be a component of the investigative facts.

Following the unpleasant incident, the Australian High Commission has also issued statement promising the proper investigation over the issue.

“We regret the attack on taxi driver of Indian origin in Hobart which occurred over the weekend. We understand he suffered minor injuries and has been discharged from Royal Hobart Hospital. We place great importance on the safety and security of everyone who resides in Australia, including our Indian community.”

“The matter is currently under investigation by the Tasmania police, it takes all assaults seriously. We understand that whether the assault was racially-based will be a component of the investigative facts,” it further stated.
