France’s Iris Mittenaere wins the title of Miss Universe 2016

Iris Mittenaere from France clinched the title of Miss Universe 2016 in the annual pageant held at the mall of Asia in the Philippines.

A 23-year-old, Mittenaere is a dental student and belongs to the small town of Lille in northern France.

In the final question to the top three finalists, the contestants were asked to talk about the biggest failure in their life and explain what they learned from that.

In reply to final question Miss France, Iris Mittenaere said “I’ve failed several times in my life, But when you fail, you have to be elevated and you have to try again and keep going … I have failed before but for me, this is the great first opportunity.”

Miss universe 2015 winner Pia Wurtzbach, of Philippines, crowned Iris Mittenaere.

Miss Haiti, Raquel Pelissier was named the first runner-up, whereas Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar, was the second runner-up.

Though Miss India, 22-year-old Roshmitha Hari Murthy from Bengaluru make it to the top-13.
